Oklahoma governor appoints transportation secretary

Oklahoma Gov. Brad Henry Tuesday named a veteran of two gubernatorial administrations to oversee the state’s transportation system. Phil Tomlinson, a commercial real estate investor from Shawnee, OK, was nominated for transportation secretary Jan. 21.

Tomlinson served in the administrations of Republican Gov. Dewey Bartlett and Democratic Gov. David Hall as economic development coordinator.

“Phil Tomlinson understands Oklahoma’s transportation needs and the steps we need to take to build the best highway system in the country. Because of his experience in previous gubernatorial administrations, I think he will be very adept at building bipartisan coalitions to promote an efficient and effective state transportation strategy,” Gov. Henry said in a statement.
