Truck-A-Rama heads for Bristol Dragway Oct. 4-5

The Lucas Oil Truck-A-Rama returns to Bristol Dragway, Bristol, TN, Oct. 4-5 with a new format and more entertainment not only for truckers, but for their families.

Last year, the Lucas Oil Big Rigs Nationals were held over a three-day period. This year, the nationals will be a two-day event with the main event on Saturday, Oct. 5. There will be special drag classes for big rigs with cash awards plus a show and shine area.

Saturday night, Truck-A-Rama will host the Tennessee Monster Truck Nationals featuring Bigfoot and seven other monster trucks in a freestyle competition. Later that evening, Bob Motz's jet-powered Kenworth will blast down the quarter mile followed by a fireworks display.

Racing classes include Big Rigs (all bobtail tractors), Heavy Haulers (all dump trucks, tandem and larger), Super Duty (all other one ton and larger trucks), and Tuff Trucks (mini, full-size, dually pickups, vans and SUVs). In each class, the winner will pocket $500, runners-up will take home $200, semifinalists will win $100 and quarterfinalists will get $50.

There also will be a $500 run-off between the Big Rigs and Heavy Haulers and the Super Duty and Tuff Truck winners. Those two winners will have a run-off for a $1,000 bonus.

Show classes include Conventional and Cab-Over Sleepers, Conventional and Cabover Daycab, Dump trucks (single and dual axle), Dump trucks (triple axle and up), mini pickups, full-size pickups and dually pickups. Winners will receive plaques and the best in show will win $500. Special awards also will be given for Best Paint, Best Graphics, Best Chrome, Best Interior and Best Sleeper.

Admission is $15 for adults. Tickets for children 6-11 are $5, children 5 and under will be admitted free. The Friday Test & Tune admission is $10.

The Test & Tune will take place Friday, Oct. 4 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Gates will open Saturday, Oct. 5 at 9 a.m. with time runs at 10 a.m. and eliminations at 3 p.m.

The Monster Truck Pit Party is at 6 p.m. and the Tennessee Monster Truck Nationals start at 7:30 p.m. For more information, call (423) 764-3534.
