NY cop rear-ends semi, arrested for DWI

A New York City police officer was charged with driving while intoxicated after he rear-ended a truck on the Long Island Expressway early Saturday. According to Newsday, police charged the cop with DWI and suspended him from the force.

NYPD Officer Jose Anaya, of Brentwood, was eastbound on the expressway at about 4 a.m. when he struck a semi just east of exit 49. Anaya, along with a passenger, reportedly a fellow officer, were both hospitalized for injuries. The truckdriver was not injured.

Anaya is assigned to the 90th Precinct in Brooklyn. He is scheduled for arraignment in Central Islip at the end of the month.
