Quebec semitrailer
manufacturer Manac has announced the acquisition of certain assets
of Oran, MO-based manufacturer CPS Trailer.
The $4.5
million purchase of CPS Trailer includes a 115,000-square-foot
plant as well as certain raw material and finished products. This
is Manac's first plant in the United States. The company operates
three plants in Quebec and one in Ontario.
CPS manufacturers
bottom dump trailers and specialty semitrailers. Annual production
capacity is 800 units.
Manac, Canada's
largest semitrailer manufacturer, says the acquisition will allow
the company to take advantage of the increase in demand felt in
the transport industry during the first half of 2002. Manac's backlog
is currently 2,753 units, compared to 984 during the same time last
year.
