Driver crashes fuel truck after bee attack

| Friday, August 16, 2002

A man attacked by bees while driving a fuel oil tanker Aug. 12 lost control and flipped the rig. Ronald Reuss of Monticello, NY, was driving a tanker laden with 1,200 pounds of fuel oil on Old Liberty Road, just outside the city Monday morning. Then the bees started stinging.

Reuss' semi ran up onto a 45-degree embankment and flipped. No fuel oil spilled. Reuss was taken to a local hospital for treatment of cuts, bruises and bee stings. He was then released.

The crash took out about 25 feet of a picket fence, missing a propane tank by just a few inches. No tickets were issued.
