Ohio baseball team pays tribute to Traficant

Fans attending the Mahoning Valley Scrappers baseball game Wednesday in Niles, OH, can take part in a hair-raising tribute to former Ohio congressman Jim Traficant.

The Class-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians will celebrate "Jim Traficant Night," at the ol' ball game. Hairpiece wearers and sons of truckdrivers get in free.

Traficant, serving an eight-year prison sentence for bribery and racketeering, often calls himself "the son of a truckdriver."

Scrappers fans who attend the game will also receive Traficant trading cards and will take part in a mock election. The Ohio Democrat has insisted he would seek re-election from his prison cell.

His unique hairstyle caused rampant speculation among the media and his constituents on whether it was real or a rug. However, since his arrival earlier this month at the Federal Correctional Institution in White Deer, PA, he has been unable to wear his toupee.
