Radio has announced it will reshape its 100-channel lineup, adding
channels for neo soul, books and drama, old-time radio dramas,
folk music, easy listening and other formats. The new lineup will
debut Aug. 26.
new channels are The Flow (ch. 61), featuring Neo Soul hits combining
today's R&B, jazz, funk, hip-hop and soul; Sonic Theater (ch.
163), with audio books and radio dramas; Radio Classics (ch. 164),
reliving the Golden Age of Radio with shows like "The Shadow,"
"Abbott & Costello," "Dragnet," and "The
Lone Ranger;" The Village (ch. 15), featuring folk music;
and Nashville! (ch. 11), playing today's top hits from platinum
To make room
for the new programming, Open Road will move from ch. 168 to 171
and XM will drop Club 82 (ch. 82), C-Wave (ch. 105), Highway 15
(ch. 15), Lite (ch. 24), Radio Taj (ch. 104), WSIX (ch. 11) and
XM News (ch. 120). In addition, some channels will be re-categorized.
