Trucker Buddy announces July drivers of the month

| Monday, July 22, 2002

Owner-operators Peter and Betty Born have been named Trucker Buddy's drivers of the month for July. The Canadian couple is recognized for their faithful interaction and twice-a-year visits to Vicki Neuberger's second grade class at Orangeville (IL) Elementary.

Ms. Neuberger credits her students' advanced math and map reading skills to the Trucker Buddy program, and is pleased that the kids "have great respect for trucks and their drivers." The Borns are two of more than 4,400 drivers who correspond with about 5,000 classes worldwide.

Trucker Buddy is a pen pal program that matches drivers with children in grades two through eight. The program is supported solely by donations from sponsors, such as Platinum level DCSTrucks.com, ProTrucker magazine, and Transcore, Gold Level contributors; OOIDA, Delphi and Midnight Cowboy Trucking Radio Network and Silver Level donors; ArvinMeritor, J.J. Keller and Associates, Kenworth, TruckDriver.com, Wal-Mart and TCA. For more information about the program, visit http://www.truckerbuddy.org or call 1-800-MY BUDDY (692-8339).
