| Thursday, July 18, 2002

Road crews will start a six-week resurfacing project early Saturday, July 20, on the Kingery Expressway (I-80/94) in southeast Chicago. The Illinois Department of Transportation encourages travelers to use alternative routes.

The reconstruction project includes patching, milling and resurfacing about three miles of freeway from I-94/Il 394 to the Indiana state line. Travelers in Illinois and Indiana are advised to expect "significant delays."

The project has been scheduled for the overnight hours. Lane closures are expected weekdays between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. and could continue as late as 11 a.m. on weekends. The project is scheduled to be complete by Aug. 29.
