alternate routes through October.
An interchange improvement
project for I-55 at the Tri-State Tollway (I-294) moves into its
final stage of construction this weekend. The project will replace
and widen two bridges and reconstruct and realign five ramps.
The southbound I-55 ramp
to northbound I-294 will re-open to traffic Saturday, June 22.
At the same time, two ramps from southbound I-294 to northbound
I-55 and to Joliet Road will close.
On June 25, the ramp from
northbound I-55 to northbound I-294 will also be shut down. All
three ramps will remain closed until Oct. 31 - the project's scheduled
completion date. For detour information and maps, visit www.dot.state.il.us/i294/294detourinfo.html.
