Truck World 2002, DuPont Show and Shine slated for September

| Wednesday, June 19, 2002

The most beautiful and powerful big rigs from Canada and the Northern United States are getting ready for this year's DuPont Show and Shine Competition at Truck World 2002. The show is Canada's only national truck show and is planned for Sept. 26-28, 2002, at CNE Grounds in Toronto, Ontario.

"Truckers take great pride in their rigs - the polish, the chrome and little add-ons that make their big trucks unique," says Truck World Show Manager Barbara Cole. "You can spot that pride a mile away. This year we are inviting the pubic to check out these spectacular trucks and vote for their favorite."

Hundreds of truckers are making plans now to be part of the 2nd DuPont Show and Shine Competition at Truck World. The big rigs will be lined up in front of the National Trade Centre at the CNE Grounds where they will be judged to see which is the most beautiful truck. Awards will be presented to the winning trucks and their owners at noon on the third and final day of the Truck World Show, Saturday, Sept. 28.

The rigs compete in more than 20 categories and vie for cash and trophies. The trucks are judged on, among other things, best paint, best interior and best engine. The trucks entering the contest include both new and older model trucks.

Fans of the big rigs or anyone who wants to check out this year's entries are invited to vote for their favorite truck. While our team of independent judges will rigorously inspect and score each rig - every trucker wants to know how members of the public view his or her truck. Cast your vote by touring the outdoor display of trucks and mark your specially marked ballot card. The rigs will be on display throughout the three-day show. Public voting must be completed before 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28. Admission to the DuPont Show and Shine Competition is free.

As the name signifies, DuPont Performance Coatings, Canada's leading supplier of paint finishes, is back this year as the event's title sponsor.

"It's a perfect fit as DuPont's Imron brand is the paint of choice for most heavy-duty truck manufacturers and many refinishes across the country," said Cole. DuPont threw its support behind the hugely successful inaugural show and shine at Truck World in 2000.
