Truck company owner faces 174 felony charges

Prosecutors filed 174 felony charges against a Sequim, WA, truck company owner suspected of running a statewide drug ring through his business.

Douglas Eugene Baker, owner of Hard Rock Trucking, was arrested in March after authorities found evidence of marijuana growing, distribution of marijuana and cocaine, electric power theft and money laundering connected to the company. He is charged with 172 counts of delivery of cocaine, one count of first-degree defrauding of a public utility and one count of cocaine possession.

Baker's wife, Vernell Baker, is charged with one count of cocaine possession. Seven other people who were also arrested have yet to be charged. The Bakers were summoned to appear in Clallam County Superior Court on June 20.
