| Wednesday, June 12, 2002

Drivers traveling through the Tucson, AZ, area over the next three weekends will confront freeway closures as I-10 on the south and southeast sides of the city has new overhead signs installed. Detour signs reportedly will be posted as far away as Phoenix and the New Mexico state line to alert drivers.

On June 15-16 and 29-30, westbound I-10 will be closed from Valencia Road to South Sixth Avenue from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. During the closures, the Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to exit at Valencia, travel west to I-19, then north to I-10.

On June 22-23, eastbound I-10 will be closed from I-19 to Valencia Road from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastbound motorists are advised to exit at I-19, travel south to Valencia, then east to I-10.
