Recall alert: Anybody got a Dodge Ram pickup with diesel engine?

| Tuesday, June 11, 2002

Chrysler Group is recalling 46,000 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 pickups to reinforce a potentially weak weld on a rear axle bracket. Also being recalled are 1997-1998 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups with diesel engines to replace a fitting in the engine compartment.

The recall of the Dodge Ram 1500 pickups affects only four-wheel drive models built prior to November 2001. Dealers will install a reinforcement bracket.

About 111,000 1997-1998 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups with diesel engines will be recalled to replace a fitting in the engine compartment that could corrode from road salt. Dealers will install new fittings in the engine compartment with improved corrosion resistance.
