Construction closes stretch of Detroit's I-75 until November

| Friday, June 07, 2002

Road crews are scheduled to begin a five-month road and bridge repair project this weekend on a portion of northbound I-75 near Detroit. The project will shut down all northbound lanes.

The closure will run from Goddard Road in Southgate to the Rouge River Bridge starting at 12:01 a.m., Saturday, June 8. Crews will rehabilitate 20 bridges while rebuilding more than six miles of pavement.

The posted detour is northbound U.S. 24, to eastbound I-94, to eastbound I-96 to northbound I-75. One lane of southbound I-75 will be dedicated for northbound tractor-trailers heading toward the Ambassador Bridge. As a result, southbound traffic will be reduced to two lanes until the project's scheduled completion in November.
