Roadcheck 2002 begins Tuesday

| Friday, May 31, 2002

It's that time of the year again! Truckers everywhere will encounter safety inspectors during the annual 72-hour inspection blitz scheduled for Tuesday, June 4 to Thursday, June 6.

From coast to coast and in every province, the inspection detail will focus on Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) Level I inspections. Special emphasis this year will be placed on hazardous materials and security.

Inspectors will be positioned at sites along major highways. In addition, roving patrols will inspect commercial vehicles traveling other highways.

During Roadcheck 2001, more than 45,000 vehicles were inspected at more than 1,000 locations throughout North America. Of those vehicles, 24 percent were placed out-of-service for safety violations and 5.7 percent were taken off the road for violations of federal safety regulations.
