Expediters Online and Freightliner of Knoxville have teamed up for Expedite Expo 2002. The expedited freight industry's trade show will be held Aug. 15-16, 2002, at the Detroiter Truck Stop in Woodhaven, MI. Admission is free.
Based on the success of last year's inaugural event, organizers have expanded the event to last two full days.
"We feel that the interest in the Expo is an example of how far the expediting industry has come in the last 5 years," said Lawrence McCord, senior administrator of Expediters Online.
The expediting truck beauty show, one of the premier attractions of last year's Expedite Expo, returns this year with the finest expedited freight cargo vans and straight trucks competing for cash, trophies and prizes.
A new event for this year's Expo actually takes place the day before the show opens: The Road Home Golf Open -- Charity Outing! On Wed., Aug. 14. Participants will enjoy a day of fresh air and sunshine on the links of the Green Meadows Golf Course in Monroe. A portion of the greens fees will be donated to the Road Home program, which works in partnership with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
The Expo is designed specifically for current or prospective expediting owner-operators, fleet owners and drivers. Recruiters will be available to answer questions and provide information on what their companies offer.
Expedite Expo 2002 also will feature a wide range of truck dealers, aftermarket suppliers and vendors displaying their goods and services. There also will be seminars throughout the two-day event. Land Line's Technical Editor Paul Abelson will conduct two seminars on Thurs., Aug. 15.
Again this year, the featured speaker will be Ellen Voie, executive director of Trucker Buddy International. Ellen will present two seminars on Fri., Aug. 16, concerning personal and home issues affecting the expediting professional.
Eric Harley of the Midnight Trucking Radio Show and Dave Nemo of the Dave Nemo Radio Network will make appearances at the show, greeting fans, answering questions and getting to know the professional drivers of the expediting industry.
