Delaware authorities have arrested two men in connection with an operation to divert Federal Express packages from their intended shipping route to themselves.

Kevin Patterson of Seaford, DE, and Randy Delano of Bridgeville were charged with 26 counts of theft, nine counts of second-degree conspiracy and 17 counts of third-degree conspiracy. They were remanded to a correctional institute in default of $260,000 secured bond, pending further court action.

Patterson and Delano were contracted drivers for FedEx responsible for transporting packages for Louden Trucking. Authorities believe the drivers picked up loads from the central shipping station in Harrisburg, PA, and occasionally made stops at their homes or a rented storage facility prior to arriving at their assigned destination.

FedEx tallied lost shipment complaints and concluded about $60,000 in merchandise was unaccounted for, according to a published report. Detectives have recovered about $25,000 worth of merchandise.
