Ralph "Bud" Cuca Jr., Nebraska Trucking Association president, passes away

Ralph "Bud" Cuca Jr., 43, of Lincoln, NE, died Wednesday, April 17, due to complications from cancer. He was president of the Nebraska Trucking Association (NTA) since 1996 and joined the NTA staff in 1991 as membership services director. The NTA offices were closed Friday in honor of Cuca.

He also was a member of the Cathedral of the Risen Christ; Lincoln Bar Association; Nebraska Bar Association; president, Country Club of Lincoln; past president, Rebounders Club; UNL Alumni Association board of directors; legal counsel for Gov. Kay Orr during her term in office; Nebraska Chamber of Commerce board of directors; Lincoln Chamber of Commerce board of directors; Leadership Lincoln director and fellow; University of Nebraska Foundation board of trustees; and University of Nebraska student regent.

He is survived by his wife, Heidi; his 6-year-old son, Ben; and his 4-year-old daughter, Meg, all of Lincoln.

A memorial service was held Friday, April 19, 2002 at the Cathedral of the Risen Christ, 3500 Sheridan Blvd. The family suggests sending memorial donations to: American Cancer Society for Research, 5733 S. 34th St., Suite 500, Lincoln, NE 68516; University of Nebraska Foundation, Men's Basketball Scholarship, Ste. 200, 1111 Lincoln Mall, Lincoln, NE 68508.
