OOIDA issues Comcheck scam alert

The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association has issued an advisory to truckers about an alleged Comcheck scam going on across the United States. Fraudulent checks reportedly have been cashed at various locations throughout the country.

According to OOIDA's Business Services department, truckers are randomly being approached near truckstops by a stranger connected to the scam.

"Guys are being approached by someone who strikes up a conversation with them, asking about their broker and if they can use their name for a reference," says OOIDA's Larry Green. "Unsuspecting truckers provide information, only to find out later it was used along with their truck number and ICC information to book a load and get an advance on the load in the victim's name."

Anyone with information or if you believe you may have been the victim of this scam, contact OOIDA's Business Services department at 1-800-444-5791.
