| Monday, April 01, 2002

The Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA) is hosting the Calvary event June 21, which is aimed at educating the trucking industry on the dangers of terrorism.

Cpl. Rob Ruiters of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Regina and Bob Thomasson of the U.S. Department of Transportation will be on-hand to share their expertise in this area.

Thomasson has authored a course for U.S. law enforcement and the trucking industry, on the threat of terrorism within the industry.

"At this time space is limited to between 100 and 150 participants with Canadian truckers having preference," Mayne Root of the Office of Compliance and Regulatory Affairs told Land Line. "If we get enough inquires, we may look for a larger space." Registration for the seminar will be between $30 and $50, to cover the cost of hosting the event. For more information, call Root at (403) 243-4161.
