UDOT adds I-84 as truck traffic alternate to I-80

| Wednesday, February 20, 2002

With Olympic events at Snowbasin near Interstate 84 in northern Utah now complete, the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) advises truckers to use I-84 as an alternate to I-80 for travel through northern Utah during peak Olympic spectator travel times until the games end the evening of Sunday, Feb. 24. Using this recommended alternate route will help truckers avoid congestion caused by spectators traveling to and from Olympic venues.

For those who must use I-80 between Salt Lake City and Park City, travel westbound on I-80 from 4 p.m. to noon and eastbound from noon to 4 a.m. At all other times use I-84 as the alternate.

Road closures and restrictions for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games continue and UDOT encourages motorists to "Know Before You Go" by using resources like www.utahcommuterlink.com, 511 and the Olympic Transportation Guide, to become familiar with Olympic Transportation Plans.
