Trucker Buddy welcomes gold level sponsor Delphi

With the help of the latest in truck communication methods, an Indiana elementary class is keeping in touch with their Trucker Buddies. Delphi's Truck PC Communication hardware allows the fourth grade class to monitor their driver's trips in real time, communicate through the airwaves and view photos through digital technology on the Internet.

Greg Shipman, Delphi senior account manager, has paired his son's fourth grade class with owner-operators Bob and Anita Tucker. Their truck has been equipped with the Delphi Truck PC Communication hardware so their class is able to not only track them as they travel, but to send messages. The Tuckers, who transport heavy haul freight for Midwest Specialized Transportation, will also send digital photos to the students, which they will be able to view on specially designed web pages linked to Delphi's web site at www.delphiautomotive.com.

Every week, Trucker Buddy drivers such as the Tuckers, share news about their travels with assigned classes, and provide a format for the enhancement of the grade school curriculum in reading, writing, geography, mathematics, social studies and history. Since the program's inception in 1984, Trucker Buddy has grown to include about 5,000 classes worldwide, including South Africa, Philippines and Saudi Arabia.

"Delphi's contribution to Trucker Buddy as a Gold Level Sponsor shows the corporation's commitment to promoting a positive image of the transportation industry along with Platinum level sponsor, DCSTrucks.com," says Trucker Buddy. "They join Gold Level supporters, OOIDA and The Midnight Trucking Radio Network."
