Annual Truck Beauty Show at Mid-America honors MATS founder Paul K. Young

Newport Communications will again exclusively produce the Paul K. Young Memorial Truck Beauty Championship at the 2002 Mid-America Trucking Show. This will be the second year for the show, which honors the late Mid-America founder Paul K. Young.

There are 20 main categories, including a new one this year exclusively for expediter straight trucks, as well as 10 "special features" classes. Cash prizes and plaques will go to first, second and third place finishers in each category, plus special trophies for Best of Show Combo and Best of Show Bobtail winners. Competitors will get goodie bags and free meals just for entering.

Competition is guaranteed for the first 100 paid registrations received for the show, to be held March 21-23 at the Kentucky Fair & Exposition Center in Louisville. Additional spaces for the competition will be made once the initial 100 space layout is determined at the competition site.

A hospitality tent will welcome competitors and the general public, and entertainment will be featured in the show area. A kick-off buffet dinner will be held for the competitors on March 20 in the hospitality tent. $10,000 will go to the charity of choice of Tim Young, Paul K. Young's son and president of Mid-America's Exhibit Management Associates.

Sponsors of the event include Avery Dennison, Chevron and Peterbilt, as well as Bostrom Seating, Continental Tire and K&L Chrome Shop, many of which will have special exhibits including trucks on display at the competition.

Judging for the competition begins at 10 a.m. on March 21. The winners will be announced on March 23 at 10 a.m. inside the convention center in Room 105.
