The weekly retail on-highway diesel prices released by the Energy Department Monday show the national average cost of diesel is unchanged from last week at $1.144 per gallon. The highest prices nationally are once again found in the New England region. Diesel there pumps for $1.292. The lowest average prices are found in the Gulf Coast region. Fuel there is $1.112 per gallon. The remaining regions' price per gallon is as follows: East Coast, $1.171; Central Atlantic, $1.255; Lower Atlantic, $1.124; Midwest, $1.119; Rocky Mountain, $1.124; West Coast, $1.224; and California, $1.278, respectively.
The Department of Energy reports the average price of self-serve each week. Prices are based on a survey of 350 diesel service centers nationwide and include taxes.
