Fertilizer trailer found, load intact

A stolen trailer carrying fertilizer and pesticides that sparked a nationwide search last week was recovered undamaged, Saturday in Hillsdale, NJ. Authorities said they had no reason to believe the theft was terrorist-related, according to ABC News.

The truck and trailer were stolen early last week from the loading dock of Rockland Corp. in Parsippany.

The tractor was found abandoned last Thursday in Elizabeth. The trailer's contents appeared to not have been disturbed. Officials believe locals may be responsible for the theft, citing several previous thefts of Rockland trucks.

The theft prompted authorities to issue a nationwide alert amid heightened concern over the possible use of hazardous materials trucks in terror attacks following the Sept. 11 attacks on New York and Washington, DC. Initial reports classified the truck's contents as hazardous, but officials now say they are not.
