Michigan carrier shuts its doors, plans to liquidate assets

Point to Point Inc., a trucking company based in Lincoln Park, MI, is closing its doors for good, according to administrative personnel. Gina Beres, equality representative for the carrier, says the company is delivering all its loads and trying to get its trailers to one location.

Although the carrier currently cannot meet its payroll, Beres says drivers and its 200-plus owner-operators will be paid as soon as the company liquidates its assets. Because owner-operators are subcontractors, Beres says they will be paid along with other employees.

Beres attributes the company's financial woes to the instability of Ford Motor Company, which makes up 85 percent of the carrier's business.
