PennDOT debuts enhanced inspection stickers

| Wednesday, January 22, 2003

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation debuted its new inspection stickers Jan. 16. The stickers are designed to help the agency reduce fraud and counterfeiting.

PennDOT describes one of the most unique security features on the enhanced stickers as an anti-fraud device that causes images on the agency’s logo to change color when viewed at various angles.

A variety of other covert security features also are included to aid law enforcement in identifying fraudulent or counterfeit inspection stickers, PennDOT Deputy Secretary Betty L. Serian said in a statement.

The enhanced stickers are currently being distributed to about 18,000 official inspection stations statewide.
