Louisiana city’s council boots big rigs

The Baker, LA, City Council approved a ban Jan. 14 to keep truckers from parking their rigs at home, The Advocate reported.

The action reverses a policy that allowed residents in the town north of Baton Rouge to park one large commercial vehicle at their homes, provided the owners obtained a permit issued by the Baker Police Department and parked the vehicles on concrete pads.

The new policy also prohibits other large trucks from parking in mobile home parks and light commercial zones.

Residents with permits reportedly will be given 90 days to make other arrangements.
