Williams TravelCenters will close its headquarters offices in Nashville, TN, by March 31, The Nashville Tennessean reported Jan. 1. Most of the people who work at the Nashville facility will lose their jobs.

The decision does not affect the 1,900 people who operate the company's travel centers and truckstops, who by that time will likely be working for Pilot Corp. That company, which is based in Knoxville, TN, announced Oct. 30 that it would purchase 60 retail travel centers from Williams, a subsidiary of Tulsa, OK, energy firm Williams Co., in a $190 million cash transaction.

Williams' centers stretch across 15 states, including locations from Arizona to Florida concentrated in the Ohio Valley and the southeastern United States.

A few of the workers at Williams' headquarters may receive job offers from Pilot, the newspaper reported.
