OOIDA announced this week it’s going to be part of a nationwide campaign to help returning military veterans finds jobs in the trucking industry.

The Association will partner with Fastport – which helps carriers find drivers – and with Hiring Our Heroes – a U.S. Chamber of Commerce program that has already placed nearly a quarter-of-a-million veterans with all types of businesses.

OOIDA will provide an online education series where veterans who want to be truckers can learn things like how to become an owner-operator, how to figure cost of operations and how to pass a safety audit.

Association President and CEO Jim Johnston says the program will help vets who want to have a meaningful and lifelong career in trucking.
