The Environmental Protection Agency Region 7 has awarded a grant to the OOIDA Foundation to help truck owners in the region who are in the market for an auxiliary power unit.
The EPA Region 7 grant awarded to the OOIDA Foundation is open to truck owners in Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Nine Tribal Nations. The grant will partially reimburse those truck owners who purchase and install an EPA certified auxiliary power unit. The funding is available from October 2018 through Dec. 31, 2020.
To be eligible to participate, applicants must:
- Be registered in one of the four states covered by Region 7 (IA, KS, MO, NE).
- Have a truck(s) with an engine manufacturing date from 1996 through 2006.
- Purchase an EPA certified APU (the list can be found here).
- Complete quarterly forms verifying the number of hours spent idling.
If selected to participate, awardees will receive a reimbursement for 25 percent of the purchase price for the APU. The reimbursement will be paid in quarterly increments until Dec. 31, 2020.
Again, the reimbursement of funds is dependent on the individual completing their quarterly form signifying the number of idling hours. For more information, email the Foundation at FoundationDept@ooida.com.
