For those attending the ninth annual Guilty By Association Truck Show from Sept. 22-23 in Joplin, Mo., it will be an opportunity to see the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association’s new trailer.

Jon Osburn, the skipper of OOIDA’s Spirit of the American Trucker tour truck, traveled to Louisville, Ky., earlier this week to pick up the Association’s new tour trailer. GBATS will be one of the first opportunities for the public to get a close look at OOIDA’s new transport trailer.

Built by Kentucky Trailer, it has a 31-inch drop frame and closed tandem axle body. It is 13 feet, 6 inches tall. It has a length of 53 feet and a width of 8 feet, 6 inches.

Both sides of the trailer feature prominent images of the OOIDA logo and a giant soaring eagle. The driver’s side of the trailer is equipped with a 50-inch television to show videos. Inside the trailer, photos and Land Line Magazine articles decorate the walls as a mural of OOIDA’s 44-year history. The inside of the trailer also includes a 55-inch television. Land Line Now’s Sirius XM show can be heard inside and outside of the trailer.

“It’s going to be a great new tool in accomplishing a huge mission,” Osburn said, “and that is enabling OOIDA to take the latest information and resources directly to the drivers out on the road.”

GBATS is expecting about 550-600 trucks in attendance.

“It’s heading to be one of the larger trucking-type events,” GBATS organizer Bryan Martin said. “It’s not a trade and exhibit show. It’s a truck show. It’s a place where you can bring your buddies, your dad, your granddad and your family. It’s really developed a life of its own.”

Some of the highlights include big rig burnouts, a Timberworks Lumberjack show, a semi-truck and tractor pull, and the Special Olympics Convoy.

A full schedule of events can be found at the Chrome Shop Mafia website, or by using the new GBATS 2017 phone application.
