Top working show truck honors go to OOIDA members at Wildwood

OOIDA members took top honors in the coveted Best of Show Working Bobtail and Combo categories at the first stop of the Pride and Polish Truck Beauty Contest tour at 75 Chrome Shop in Wildwood, Fla., on April 26.

Clinching the Best of Show Working Combo title was OOIDA Member Shawn Cielke from Haugan, Mont. No stranger to the truck show circuit, Cielke took home the big prize this time with a 2005 burnt orange Kenworth T600 and a 2017 Wabash trailer, called “Redneck Low.”

Sharing Best of Show honors in the Working truck division were OOIDA Member Kyle Cousins and Sid Colangelo of Carthage, Mo. The pair was awarded Best of Show Working Bobtail for their 2015 purple Kenworth W900L.

OOIDA Member Brian Davis with Davis Bros. Trucking in Owensville, Ind., topped the competition in the Best of Show Limited Mileage Combo division with his 2015 blue and white Peterbilt 386 and 2016 Wilson grain trailer, “Buzz Kill.”

Best of Show Limited Mileage Bobtail went to Doug Jameson and James Williams of Springfield, Mo., and their 2015 red and black Peterbilt 389, “Contender.”

While judges’ opinions and scores mean a lot, the sought-after People’s Choice award remains a favorite with the competitors. The truck that draws the crowds, and the People’s Choice votes, is OOIDA Member Michael Manuel’s 2015 blue Peterbilt 389 and 2017 MAC curtain side, “One of Many.” Built to honor his daughter and raise awareness for autism, the truck and trailer combo stopped people in their tracks at the Mid-America Trucking Show and apparently did again in Wildwood. He also picked up Best of Show Builder’s Class Combo.

Best of Show Builders Class Bobtail went to OOIDA Member Bob Harley of Burbank, Ohio, and his 1972 purple Peterbilt 358A, “Bad Attitude.”

The Pride and Polish Truck Beauty Contest tour takes the top six award winners in the working and limited mileage categories as well as the builder’s classes and sets them up for the big season-ending showdown at the Great American Truck Show to determine the season champions. The six Wildwood winners are now finalists with an invitation to compete in the finals.
