Texas authorities are reporting that a tractor-trailer struck a bridge in Salado, Texas, Thursday, March 26. Early reports indicate that at least one person was killed and several others were injured.

According to Texas Department of Transportation Spokesperson Veronica Beyer, the crash occurred on the FM 2484 overpass on I-35 in Salado, which is approximately 40 miles north of Austin. Images from the scene show a truck bearing a logo for C.R. England Global Transportation underneath the rubble.

Authorities did not immediately know exactly how the crash occurred and had not released any names. Beyers noted that the bridge is still standing and has not collapsed, despite earlier media reports.

According to the Austin American-Statesman, the bridge clearance height was 13 ft. 6 inches. Three signs were posted in the two miles before the bridge, the paper reports.

As of press time, TxDOT had shut down I-35 in both directions in the immediate area. The section of the bridge where the crash occurred was under construction at the time.
