SPECIAL REPORT: Patrol seeks info on bodies near Florida Turnpike

| 10/13/2006

Oct. 13, 2006 - Investigators are hoping truckers or other motorists saw something early Friday morning, Oct. 13, that will help them in their investigation of four bodies that were found along the Florida Turnpike near Fort Pierce.

According to The Associated Press, all four of the bodies - a man, a woman a young boy and a girl - were shot multiple times. The woman appeared to have been shielding the children, who are thought to be between 4 and 6 years old.

There was no car at the scene, but investigators told reporters there are obvious tire tracks nearby.

The bodies were well off the highway, by a stand of trees near Mile Marker 149, which is an isolated area several miles from a rest stop.

A nearby resident reported hearing what sounded like firecrackers around 3 a.m. Friday.

If you have any information, call the Florida Highway Patrol's tip line at 1-800-273-TIPS (1-800-273-8477).
