| 7/20/2009

Monday, July 20, 2009 – Posted at 3:51 p.m. CST – Authorities in Volusia, FL, say a thief or thieves have stolen a commercial truck.

According to OOIDA’s TRACER program, a red 2000 Freightliner Century Class was taken Monday. The truck has “Bekins Van Lines” on each door, as well as truck number 5172.

The truck’s Illinois license plates read P643747.

The truck and trailer were reported stolen to TRACER Monday morning.

TRACER, the Transportation Alert Communication and Emergency Response program, was launched in the spring by OOIDA. The program is a two-way communication system that both sends alerts to members and coordinates information received from trucking members.

Members can sign up to receive text messages and e-mail alerts for truck thefts and missing persons and they can also use the system to report their own stolen property.

Truckers may call the TRACER hotline at 866-950-2291 or visit www.tracersystem.us to get the latest advisory or to report information about stolen cargo or missing persons, etc.
