A Tennessee man charged with murder in the death of a trucker has pleaded not guilty.
James P’Pool, 21, was reportedly drunk when his pickup truck sideswiped a Pepsi commercial truck on Oct. 8 on U.S. 641. The truck left the highway, hit a tree and came to rest in a field before catching fire and exploding, killing truck driver Donny Houston, 52.
According to the Murray Ledger & Times, a grand jury amended a manslaughter charge to murder in early November.
P’Pool was arrested at the scene for driving under the influence of alcohol.
P’Pool is scheduled to appear in court for a status hearing on Jan. 11.
