Owners of Wisconsin trucking companies can download forms to apply for Wisconsin’s $2 million APU grant program – which reimburses trucking companies for 50 percent of the cost of an APU. According to the state’s Web site, the deadline to apply is Friday, Aug. 1.
The program – called the Wisconsin Diesel Truck Idling Reduction Grant Program – has set aside $500,000 for small trucking companies.
OOIDA members “are encouraged to apply,” said Joe Rajkovacz, the Association’s regulatory affairs specialist.
“Besides the obvious environmental benefits of reduced idling, an APU will significantly reduce your fuel cost and allow compliance with the increasing number of jurisdictions which ban main engine idling,” Rajkovacz told Land Line. “Depending on your total idling time, payback on your 50 percent investment can be as little as one year.”
Businesses with OOIDA membership who are interested in applying may call the Association for more information or for assistance in filling out the form.

OOIDA members obtained an estimated $247,000 from Wisconsin’s 2007 Diesel Truck Idling Reduction Grant program.
