Authorities have released the names of the eight victims in the fatal wreck that took place Thursday, Aoril 26, along the Indiana Toll Road.
According to The Associated Press, five people in one pickup truck were killed, including Vernan and Merle Miller; and Lester, Samuel and Anthony Yoder.
The driver of another pickup truck, Mark Repp, was also killed. A couple driving a Jeep Cherokee – Douglas and Mary Helen George – also died in the wreck.
Contrary to earlier reports, there were no fatalities among the big rig drivers involved in the wreck, though police did release the name of the truck driver who allegedly caused the fatalities when his truck struck the other vehicles.
Leonardo Cooksey of Mount Prospect, IL, is a driver with New England Motor Freight, which is based in Elizabeth, NJ.
Police told The AP they don’t know why Cooksey didn’t slow down, but so far, no charges have been filed.
