Washington's I-405 shuts down for bridge work

| 9/3/2002

Road crews will shut down all lanes of Washington's I-405 and several ramps near Bellevue for bridge work Sept. 9-12. The freeway lanes will be closed near Northeast 8th Street as 18 steel bridge girders are set in place.

Northbound and southbound traffic will be reduced to one lane and detoured off mainline I-405, through the NE 8th Street interchange, and back onto I-405. All I-405 lanes will close at 11 p.m. nightly and reopen by 5 a.m. and all ramps will reopen by 6 a.m.

The $12.8 million project will construct a new, 120-foot-wide overpass with three lanes in each direction. The current overpass has two lanes each way and is 103 feet wide.
