woman allegedly driving 117 mph while intoxicated early Thursday
near El Paso, TX, struck a fuel tanker, got caught under the tanker
's wheels and survived without a scratch, according to the El
Mariscal reportedly was speeding on I-10 West at 2:30 a.m. when
she lost control of her car and struck the center guardrail. The
impact caused the car to spin back into traffic and into a 1993
Freightliner pulling a tanker carrying 8,000 gallons of fuel.
Lonnie Grant had just filled the tanker, the newspaper reported.
He locked the brakes and tried to keep the truck in a straight
line, dragging the car about 150 yards.
the possibility of an explosion, Grant reportedly ran to the car
and found Mariscal and her passenger, David Nahmad Chowaiki, having
a disagreement. The pair allegedly was arguing whether he was
going to take the blame for the accident. Chowaiki wanted to tell
police he was driving, but Mariscal refused.
them I just wanted them to get out and step away because I was
worried that a bad situation was about to turn devastating,"
Grant told news reporters.
No one reportedly
was injured. Mariscal was charged with driving while intoxicated
and booked into jail under a $1,000 bond.
