A Niagara
Falls, NY, traffic safety instructor was charged with leaving
the scene of an accident last week. He allegedly crashed into
a city detective's parked pickup truck outside police headquarters
and drove off.
Sam Rotella
of Lewiston, NY, was pulled over shortly after fleeing the scene.
Rotella, known as "Seat Belt Sam," reportedly was dropping
off brochures about his driver safety course at traffic court.
While driving
away, Rotella allegedly looked left and suddenly veered right,
striking the side of the pickup with his Toyota sedan. Rotella
later claimed he left the scene to report the accident to his
insurance agent.
Rotella teaches
traffic safety to traffic violators who are trying to keep points
off their driver's licenses.
