Construction closes parts of Detroit's I-94 during weekend

The Michigan transportation department is scheduled to close a short section of eastbound and westbound I-94 near Detroit on Saturday. Eastbound and westbound I-94 will be closed from M-3 (Gratiot Avenue) in Detroit to I-696 in St. Clair Shores to set bridge beams. The closure begins at 6 a.m. and ends at 6 p.m.

The eastbound I-94 detour follows northbound M-3, to eastbound I-696, then back to eastbound I-94. The ramp from eastbound I-696 to westbound I-94 also will be closed. The westbound I-94 detour follows westbound I-696, to southbound M-3, back to westbound I-94.

In addition to Saturday's closure, eastbound and westbound I-94 will be reduced to one lane between I-696 and M-102 (Vernier Road) in Harper Woods for paving. Road crews will close the ramp from eastbound I-696 to westbound I-94. The ramp closure is scheduled to begin at 5 a.m. Sunday and end at 5 a.m. Monday. Ramp traffic will be detoured from eastbound I-696, to southbound M-3, to eastbound M-102, back to westbound I-94.
