The Ohio Motor Vehicle Fuel Tax Task Force will meet May 16 to hear testimony from the public beginning at 10:00 a.m. in Statehouse Hearing Room 018.
"I look forward to evaluating the merits and possible faults of the motor fuel tax," Oelslager said. "The gas tax is an important part of our daily routine - filling up at the pump pays for everything from the Highway Patrol to road maintenance and improvements."
The task force was set up in Nov. 2001 to study the adequacy and distribution of the gas tax. Legislators, agency heads and public safety groups form the task force, which will present findings in Dec. to the legislature and to Ohio Gov. Bob Taft. If you want to testify, call Tax Task Force Chairman Sen. Scott Oelslager at 614-466-0626 or Rep. Steve Buehrer at 614-644-5091.
