Southbound
lanes of Florida's Turnpike between Atlantic Avenue and Glades
Road near south Palm Beach are now clear of construction barriers
and open to traffic, after the debut of its third lane early
Wednesday morning. The remaining stretch will open by April
27.
On the
northbound side, three lanes are open from Clint Moore Road
to Atlantic Avenue. The remaining four-mile section between
Glades and Clint Moore roads is due to open by the weekend.
In the
next month and a half, turnpike traffic will halt again for
the final touches of roadwork. Half-mile stretches on the 6-mile
expansion for the southbound and northbound sides will be closed
intermittently, Washburn said. Ramps also will shut down.
Starting
April 28, the southbound and northbound entrance ramps off Glades
Road will be closed from 9 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. until May 2, while
workers lay the final layer of asphalt.
