In order to modernize its IT systems, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration transitioned its entire mission systems to a cloud computing environment over the weekend. As of Monday afternoon, the agency is still having problems.
In order to facilitate this process, FMCSA announced an outage that was planned to end Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016, at 8 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
On Monday, the system crashed for a while in the morning and was on and off all day. FMCSA issued a systems notice that announced the cloud transition was complete, but the agency was experiencing a portal outage..
“The team is working diligently,” reported FMCSA Spokesman Duane DeBruyne. “Among their highest priorities is to minimize and then eliminate any inconveniences that users may encounter during the transition to the cloud.”
FMCSA will shut down systems Nov. 17-20 as it goes to the cloud
