OOIDA's fall birthday bash: Early bird gets the room

Excitement is building around OOIDA HQ as more and more plans come together for the 40th anniversary bash at Kansas Speedway. And while October may seem a ways off, preregistration for the show is going on now. For those who hurry, they could have a free suite for three nights at an award-winning resort near the Speedway.

Register for the show early and get in the drawing for three nights at the Great Wolf Lodge near the Kansas Speedway.

Those who plan ahead to attend the Heart of America Trucking Show on Oct. 18-19 at the Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, KS, and preregister will be eligible to win three nights of accommodations at the Great Wolf Lodge during the event. The Lodge is recognized as one of the nation’s top family resorts. From the hotel, you can see (and hear) the Speedway. The massive northwest-themed lodge features an indoor waterpark, and winners of the drawing will also get a free pass to the waterpark.

You can preregister at ooidatruckshow.com. And do it soon. The drawing for the suite will be held June 30.

Preregistration will continue after the drawing. But in order to be eligible for the drawing for the room, you'll need  to get in before the June 30 drawing.

On the subject of preregistration, for those who want to participate in the Heart of America Truck Beauty Contest, signups will be online soon.

The classes will be determined by the number of entries, year model and category. For example, we’ll have Dressed For Excess – the trucks that are shiny inside and out, customized and polished to the max. And then we’ll celebrate Grandstand Good – working trucks that get the job done in fine style, but aren’t quite as detailed.

The event will also feature more than 100 exhibitors, seminars, food, beer garden, awards, attendee competitions and much more. Plans are brewing for excitement in the free overnight truck parking lot as well. Check the website often as plans are being finalized all the time.

Concerts? We’ll have those, too.

Lucas Oil Products Inc., owned by longtime OOIDA Support Member Forrest Lucas, is sponsoring the main event concert on the Friday night of the show. Lucas Oil’s team is in the process of nailing down the act or acts for that night. And if you were a fly on the wall at OOIDA, you’d be impressed at the names being tossed around as possibilities.

And, if there’s one guarantee, it’s that Forrest and Charlotte Lucas don’t do anything halfway. Stay tuned; we’ll know more soon.
