OOIDA TRACER ALERT: Truck stolen in California

Wednesday, July 29, 2009 – Posted at 10:52 a.m. CST – Authorities in San Bernardino County, CA, report a thief or thieves stole a semi tractor from a parking lot before dawn on July 26.

According to OOIDA’s TRACER program, a red 1999 Peterbilt 379 was taken Sunday after being parked at a parking facility on Friday, July 24. The truck has “BCS” on each door, as well as a compass symbol. The truck’s number is 777.

The truck’s Illinois license plates read P59449.

The truck was reported stolen to TRACER Sunday morning. Later, security footage of the parking lot showed the truck leaving at about 3:10 a.m. Sunday.

TRACER, the Transportation Alert Communication and Emergency Response program, was launched in the spring by OOIDA. The program is a two-way communication system that both sends alerts to members and coordinates information received from trucking members.

Members can sign up to receive text messages and e-mail alerts for truck thefts and missing persons and they can also use the system to report their own stolen property.

Truckers may call the TRACER hotline at 866-950-2291 or visit www.tracersystem.us to get the latest advisory or to report information about stolen cargo or missing persons, etc.
