OOIDA media earns IAMA, Apex awards

Land Line Now, a radio show produced by OOIDA, has been recognized by the International Automotive Media Awards. Host Mark H. Reddig, Producer/Senior Sound Engineer Barry Spillman and Second Sound Engineer James Fetzer received a Gold award in the environmental/regulatory category for “Liquid natural gas: fuel of the future.”

Reddig and Spillman were also recognized for “Checklist fatigue: Minnesota targets truckers” with a Silver award in investigative reporting.

Land Line Now staff won a Silver award in the public service category for “The Truckers for Troops Telethon.”

In the profile category, a Bronze award went to Senior Correspondent Terry Scruton, Spillman and Fetzer for “In this corner: a trucker and a pro wrestler” on OOIDA Member Lee Jordan.

Land Line Now is the first daily news and info program for truckers. The show is broadcast nationwide each day on Sirius XM Satellite Radio’s Road Dog Trucking channel, Sirius 147 and XM 171.

In a separate competition, Bill Hudgins’ “Downshift” column won an Apex Award of Excellence in the Regular Departments and Columns print category of the annual contest.

Hudgins entered “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Wheel?” and “It’s been a Good Road” plus his annual “Cracked Christmas Carols” column from the December/January 2009 issue of Land Line. LL
